Matt Sundstrom and Tony Prokes have started an interesting, and familiar, discussion in the recap of Game No. 131. The question beneath the surface--how does Austria stab an Italian ally on whom he's relying to keep the West at bay--is one that has plagued me often when I've managed to do well as Austria.

From our very first game, members of the club have been clamoring to spice things up with an occasional Diplomacy variant. But the Prime Weasel was an unrepentant purist, and he squashed such talk with an iron fist.

The Potomac Tea & Knife Society's mailing list is lighting up with emails about the nature of Mar S Par-Bur. The context there was a Gunboat game, which may make a difference, but the debate spilled beyond that. We thought it might be fun to give you a chance to argue about it.

1. As France, why might you support yourself to Burgundy?
