Come now, Weasels, start your scheming, and mark your calendars while you're at it. The 22nd annual World Diplomacy Championship and the 45th North American Diplomacy Championship are coming to Chicago!

That's right, the Windy City Weasels will host the WDC and DipCon at the hobby's best-named tournament, their sixth annual Weasel Moot. Hroom, hroom! All the details you need are right here, so make your plans to join us!
When: August 10-12, 2012.

Where: Chicago's historic Congress Plaza Hotel, 520 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60605.

What: A five-round Diplomacy tournament to crown the world champion. After the fourth round, the players will be ranked by their top three scores. The seven best will compete on a top board in the final round for the world championship. All players, including those on the top board, also will vie for the titles of North American Champion and lpha Weasel zeta, the Weasel Moot VI champion. Those two titles, as well as the official Grand Prix ranking, will be based on best three of five rounds.

Scoring System: Want more info about the scoring system? Click here.

Awards: Oh, we'll have 'em. Click here for a list.

How much: The entry fee is $70, $35 for students. Preregistration will open Nov. 1. Players may preregister through August 8 for a fee of $60, $30 for students. (Weasels who have paid their 2012 dues are entitled to an additional discount of $10.)
Entry fee

Room Reservations: We've blocked rooms at the Congress. In addition, there are a couple of other low-cost alternatives within two blocks. For more information, click here.

Travel: Chicago offers two major airports, O’Hare and Midway. Midway is closer to the venue, but both airports work. Send your itinerary to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , and we'll ensure that a smiling Weasel is there to greet you at the airport with room in his car for you and your bags. The venue is also accessible from both airports by elevated train, if you'd prefer to make your own way there.

Tournament Director and Committee: The Weasels have four members with experience running Grand Prix events. One of them will serve as the Tournament Director. He will have at least one assistant. We expect at least 10 Weasels to serve on the Tournament Committee. The TD will not be eligible for awards and will not play for score. Preferably, he will not play at all. The assistant TD(s), as well as other members of the tournament committee, will be eligible for awards.

Tournament Management: The Weasels will use software to manage the tournament. All boards except the top board will be seeded randomly.
